Many investors who bought the cryptocurrency ICON (the South Korean hyper-network cryptocurrency) on a cryptocurrency trading platform are currently wondering where to transfer their ICX so as not to leave them on the trading platform (insecure). Answer: two solutions

First solution: MyEtherWallet (NEW)

As ICON is an ERC20 (Ethereum) token, it can be transferred to a NEW wallet.
To do so, simply right click on "Add Custom Token" on your MyEtherWallet:

icon wallet new
Then enter the following information:
Address: 0xb5A5F22694352C15B00323844aD545ABb2B11028
Symbol: ICX
Decimal: 18

Then all you have to do is create the ICX wallet and transfer your ICONs to it.

Reminder: MyEtherWallet is a multi-wallet online solution for Ethereum tokens, which does not require any download, but whose real security remains to be proven (personal opinion). Storing cryptocurrencies outside cryptocurrency trading platforms is often complicated or impossible; but I suggest you check this post as well: How to store and secure your cryptocurrencies.

Second solution: ICX Wallet and ICONick

The ICON community is looking forward to the release of the private ICON wallet that will mean ICX holders no longer have to leave this cryptocurrency on a trading platform, or be forced to use NEW.

A special feature of this ICON wallet: users will have the possibility of using ICONick and so be able to replace their ICON wallet’s long public address with a name of their choice. No more elongated and impossible to memorize wallet addresses to transfer ICONs. All ICONex users will be able to register 1 ICONick per wallet for free for 1 year; and these ICONick addresses can also be exchanged with or sold to other users on the market.

You can easily imagine certain users appropriating known names or brand names in the hope of being able to resell them at a higher price in the future.

NB: to maintain the security of ICON wallets, this feature will not be adapted to private addresses; logically.
NB: transfers to a public address which has been “renamed" will still be possible; also logical.
NB: it would not surprise me to see the ICX price soar on the release of the private wallet; a situation to watch. $2.90 at the time I wrote this article. The official release of the ICON Wallet is scheduled for March 2018.
